So said Blair biographer and headmaster Anthony Seldon on yesterday’s Today programme. If you missed it catch it here.

In the meantime a flash of the amusing, relaxed PM that we all hear about from his mates was visible backstage last night on ITV’s coverage of the Mandela concert. He told kids presenter (ie no Jeremy Paxman) Fearne Cottton that Nelson Mandela was the greatest statesman of our of any generation and that he was looking forward to Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox and great Scots Simple Minds. No mention of Arctic Monkeys (who weren’t on the bill anyway) and tieless appearance in an open-necked shirt which made him look tons better than his usual buttoned-up public image. Can’t find a YouTube clip but the Guardian reports on it here.
