A momentous coupla days. New Labour PM on Weds, new Labour MP on Tues, new faces in the ministerial ranks including some who hitherto have not been party members and now Labour home reports that the governing party benches may have a further boost in numbers (assuming both the Sedgefield and Ealing Southall by-elections go the right way) as Clare Short might be about to make a PLP comeback – according to the BBC. Short actually spoke at a conference we did at Kingston University last Autumn where she first publically made her hung parliament remarks. She was gone from Labour by the end of the week. It was being predicted that she might join Respect given that her sister is an organiser of theirs in Tower Hamlets but dunno if Galloway’s ego could cope quite frankly with someone trying to crash his personal vanity project.  Some Labour bloggers are distinctly queasy about all these comings and goings. I say “bring it on” (to quote the now fast fading David Cameron), Labour should welcome all new recruits; if they’re MPs it’s a bonus.

PS I always thought Cruddas would get something out of all this but apparently he’s rejected Gordon’s advances…
