Seems that there are a lot of significant political anniversaries at present. Yesterday the 10th anniversary of New Labour’s accession to power and today the 25th of the sinking of the Belgrano – the one event that floored Thatcher when a housewife rang in to challenge her during “Election Call” during the longest-suicide-note-in-history ’83 GE campaign. Given the media saturated times we live in the, broadsheet and tabloid colour pull-outs showing the ageing of Blair in the last decade were always inevitable but has anyone yet unearthered Mrs Diana Gould of Bristol, the woman that made the irony lady turn to jelly with a serious handbagging? Surely some reality show (or Channel 5 News or summat) will do it and ask for her views on New Labour etc etc? Is the silly season upon us yet?
