Things are not looking great for the Johnson administration (hey that sounds a bit LBJ doesn’t it?). First the ill-judged comments of Aussie advisor McGrath telling black Londoners just where to go if they didn’t like the new regime and now black Londoner and Deputy Mayor Ray Lewis has walked the plank before any more lurid allegations come to light. After the way Lewis was hailed an an inspirational figure by right-wing bloggers and the way the boot was put into Lee Jasper it looks like Lewis’ appointment is turning out to not be the master-stroke it was initially being heralded as – that’s putting it politely.
Boris must be however feeling low following the death of his father in law the long-serving BBC foreign correspondent Charles Wheeler who is a real loss to journalism. Obituary here.

Meanwhile the black-on-black killings continue.
Can anyone at City Hall find a black appointment who is upstanding and can just get on with the job?
