It might not be quite on the scale of Guido Fawkes being outed by the Guradian’s Micheal White on Newsnight in a replay of Mathew Parris outing Mandelson on the same programme, but “controversial” regular commenter to this blog Mix Together and purveyor of the Mix Together blog has exposed himself to Auntie beeb. On News 24’s “Your News” this week he came clean as a bloke called Ashley who runs a website to promote inter-ethnic relationships based on his own experiences of being and not being in mixed couples. The programme was aired on Sunday so if you are quick with the iplayer you have 5 days to sample MixTogether’s mission statement, holiday snaps and partner captured on camera. The whole thing, as it happens, is book-ended by one ex-Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq who does the links from her hometown of Ealing – also known as “Queen” of the suburbs, which is quite appropriate if we’re taking about outing…

Hope that’s made you feel better Rupa!
Now for some serious business- how can you ignore the weight of coverage about forced marriage today?
So many Labour MPs on TV right now.
How about diverting some of the energy you put into all this anti-white-racism work towards the protection of young Asian girls.
Thousands taken abroad every year- worse than race attacks by miles…

Good to see you doing some work beyond bitching at a bunch of bloggers for a change Ashley.

Must say though, having watched it you came across very well.
Something I’m curious about, you have a blog (a very good one at that), why don’t you cover the things you think the rest of us ignore on it more often? It’d get the info out there a bit more, it’d give other bloggers a chance to link to you and would raise the profile of your campaign…

You sound surprised Leon…
What I actually administer is a website where people provide each other with mutual support, and we do a bit of campaigning.
I was blogging at one point, but stopped to focus back on the site. May start again in a while, but first priority is reaching those in need, not bloggers who don’t really care

I am surprised; when I first heard about your site I was involved in setting up something very much the same, although we had a plan to take it further into actively attempting to influence policy/debate. It looked like a good initiative and I had a lot of time for it but then recently seeing you act like a bitch towards people with very little reason other than they’re not doing what you want made me re-think. You should have a lot of friends but seem to be intent on rubbing people up the wrong way.
You ever heard the saying you can attract a lot my flies with honey than vinegar?
But anyway, I do think you should find innovative ways of raising the profile of the campaign because the more people know about it the more people who are in need of it while be reached. How are you funded (where you based for that matter)? If it’s entirely voluntary you should seriously consider looking for funding, you’ve got a good service that is badly needed and as a good speaker you could really contribute to the debate on things like equality, integration, social cohesion etc from quite a unique position.
Lastly, very nice flat you and your missus have!
