David Cameron has been going on about being a Smiths fan again and visited Salford lad’s club yesterday. Labour protestors apparently prevented him getting his photo taken in front of Salford lad’s club in the same pose as Morrissey on the inner sleeve of “The Queen Is Dead”. Does Dave agree with such republican sentiments? Or “Margaret on the Guillotine” (lyrics of which are here courtesy of Luke Akehurst)? At least we have been spared a repeat of the usual photo opp that passes for Tory politics these days like the baby seal pics or the MP sleeping rough with the homeless branded by this Lib Dem blogger as a “cunning stunt”.
UPDATE: photoshopped image of silver-haired Moz on the same spot nowadays here alongside a story about how he has propped up the club to the tune of £20k.

Why would anyone want to pretend to be a Smiths’ fan?

Well perhaps Cameron really is a smiths fan and ‘this charming man’ really is one of his favourite songs.
I always assumed that fellow smiths fans had the shared experience. Morrisey reckons that he formed the band as a result of “having to walk home in the rain too many times”, hardly something you would imagine Dave of suffering.
Maybe while Cameron and his public school chums were getting pissed up in the fancy hats and coats and trashing expensive restaurants they were all loudly singing “Why pamper lifes complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?” Probably not.

Well soundbites and photo ops aside, are not policies and action more important in reality. Admittedly no-one knows how the opposition parties would act in government with Labour policies and actions continue to get worse every day!
